What is a Cycloidal Gear?

A cycloidal gear (cycloidal drive) uses eccentric-driven cycloidal discs orbiting inside a fixed pin ring to achieve high reduction ratios with low backlash. The disc has one fewer lobe than pins, so each input revolution advances it by one lobe relative to the housing, delivering compact, high-torque output via multi-point rolling contact—ideal for robotics and precision motion control.
